SUMMER BULLETIN

SUMMER BULLETINS: As the summer continues there will be times that it is important that you as parents receive information pertaining to school. This will be on a need only basis. When school begins on August 23rd, the regular Monday bulletin will resume.
Also, for families that will no longer be at MDS School, we will delete your email as soon as we are able. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause until this process is completed.
Website: Please look on our website to find lists for class reading and supplies. They are according to grade. Preschool and Kindergarten teachers mail any information on the coming year directly to the parents. If you do not find any lists for your child’s particular grade that teacher will give their list on the first day of school.
SPORTS INFORMATION-2010-2011 School Year:
The new school year will soon be upon us, and it’s time to start thinking SPORTS! The first sports meeting of the year will be Tuesday, August 31st at 6:00pm in the SAC. This meeting will be MANDATORY for 7th/8th Volleyball and 6th/7th/8th Soccer and Cross Country (parents and athletes please); however, all are welcome. There will be signups for the entire year available at this meeting. There will also be additional opportunities for signups as the seasons approach. PLEASE WATCH THE BULLETIN FOR ALL SPORTS INFORMATION!
SOCCER/CROSS COUNTRY: These sports have not been played by Madonna teams in the past, but we thought we’d try to see if there is enough interest. If you are interested, we are looking for athletes interested in SOCCER for a Boys team and for a Girls team. The grades for this sport are 6th, 7th, and 8th. The soccer season is the same time as the Volleyball season. An athlete would NOT be able to participate in both sports. The league will be setting the schedule during the summer, so we will need to know if we have enough interest for either team. There will be the possibility of a combined team with Sacred Heart if not enough players are interested. PLEASE EMAIL PAULA MATELLI (ATHLETIC DIRECTOR) IMMEDIATELY IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN PLAYING SOCCER (PAULA@PJGRAFX.COM). Cross Country will be a co-ed team of 6th/7th/8th graders if interested. Again, please contact the Athletic Director immediately if interested.
INCOMING 8th GRADE VOLLEYBALLERS: Good news! Coach Justin has agreed to coach again and has decided to conduct a Volleyball Camp in the summer to help our girls get better prepared for the upcoming Volleyball season. The dates are as follows: July 22nd, July 23rd, July 28th, July 29th, July 30th, August 3rd, and August 5th and the times will be from 6pm to 9pm in the SAC. There is no additional cost for this camp. This camp is not mandatory, but participation would be extremely beneficial for players. Questions can be directed to the Athletic Director for now and once the camp starts, directly to Coach Justin. PLEASE let us know via email to: paula@pjgrafx.com if your child is planning on attending the camp and for what days. We need to get a handle on numbers as soon as possible.
INCOMING 5th GRADERS: There are numerous opportunities for 5th graders to participate in sports. There will be a flyer handed out on the first day of school by Mrs. Panganiban to inform you and parents about the available sports. I highly recommend you and your parents attend the first meeting to get additional information.

Service Hour Opportunity: If anyone is interested in earning service hours for the coming 2010-2011 school year, assistance is needed in the Computer Lab over the summer. Please contact Josie Covarrubias at 424-7813, ext. 17.
Consider Automatic Electronic Payments: The school offers a convenient electronic payment option that allows payments to be made on a scheduled, automatic basis. We highly recommend this method of payment for anyone who finds it a chore to remember to write those monthly checks. Authorization forms are available in the school office and take less than five minutes to complete.
***Volunteers: In the coming school year there will be several opportunities for parents, grandparents and others to serve on committees. The Home and School Association, for instance, is looking for parents willing to serve a Board level position. Joyper’s Early Bird Uniform Sale: Joyper’s Shoes will have an Early Bird Uniform Sale from June 7 to July 18. Spend $100.00 (subtotal) on school uniforms and receive your choice of 10% off of your purchase or a coupon for 10% off a school approved uniform shoe. (excluding UGGS) These items may be put on layaway from 5/10/10 to 7/18/10 but must be picked up by 7/31/10. Flyers in the office.
