Parents of Pacific Coast Christian Academy, Madonna Del Sasso, and Salinas ChristianSchool, we would like to take this time to thank you for your interest in the Salinas Christian Youth Band. As many of you know, this year we have a new music teacher, Mr. Luis Lenzi. This summer, Mr. Lenzi completed a summer band program at PCCA.
The purpose of the summer program was to allow students the opportunity to continue working on music fundamentals, proper technique, and classroom etiquette. Parent and student feedback has been positive and exciting. With your help and child’s participation, we plan on making this year’s band program the best yet!
We encourage all parents to start their child in music as soon as possible. All PCCA, MDS, and SCS band students will receive a weekly 30‐minute, small‐group instruction during regular school hours and a weekly 1‐hour rehearsal with the full band after school at MDS. This allows the instructor to work with your student both individually with their specific instrument and as a group with the full band. Both settings are very important to your child’s development in music and as a musician.
We are very grateful for all three schools, parents, and Band Board members for your full and continued support of SCYB music program. This year, we have two special music concerts scheduled, one in December and one in the spring. Please see your school calendar for the dates. You will not want to miss these exciting events.
Enclosed is a SCYB Program-Information sheet, Band Enrollment form for all new and returning music students, and a Parent Volunteer form form. Please read these over, fill them out, and return them to Mr. Lenzi or a Band Board member as soon as possible. Currently, Mr. Lenzi and the Band Board are already putting the preliminary plans together for the Christmas concert and other possible band events during the school year.
We are all looking forward to having a great year with SCYB!
